Speaker 1:

Something I wanted to address this week on the podcast is asking the question, are you okay? Now here in Australia, we have an event in September, each year called are you okay? Day? And basically, what are you? Okay. Day is about, it's about suicide prevention and about inspiring Aussies to start talking and to start life-changing conversations with one another, to make sure that people are okay and that people are doing the best that they can do. And recently we've had a massive rise of suicides here in Australia, and it's got to be with the state of affairs that are going on. You know, there's so many changes that are happening and basically people are not okay. And there's been a lot more people that are stressed that are feeling depression, the, you know, the effects of the stress and getting depression. And before I share my story next week, I wanted to just address this situation and talk about, are you okay day? And even if it's not as bad as depression and suicide, but just asking, are you okay? Are you okay living with celiac disease? Are you a high with the changes that you have to make within your life? Because it is a big change. It is a big lifestyle change. When you get diagnosed with celiac disease and some people take it much better than others. I truly believe that depends on your personality. I believe it depends on the support that you're receiving. And it depends on your attitude as well. So there's lots of factors that can affect the way that you feel when you get your diagnosis. And something I want to really hone in is it's okay to not be okay. It's okay for you to say, hang on a minute. I'm struggling. This is a big change in my life and I'm not coping and I need help. And you know, perhaps things aren't working out as easily as you thought they would, you know, perhaps you thought that it was all about getting diagnosed with celiac disease. You finally found out why, you know, you were feeling rubbish and you've got an answer to your question of why do you feel that way? You now have celiac disease? And it's just a matter of eating gluten free. Well, it's not that easy. And you're finding that you're struggling and that it's not easy. So it's okay. It is actually okay to feel that way and to feel angry and to feel upset and to feel that you're missing out and to feel that you want to go back to how things were before and that you want to live your life the way others do. Because you know, we, we have dealt something that nobody would wish on anybody. Honestly, you wouldn't wish it on your worst enemy because it affects your everyday life. It affects your mood. It affects how you eat. It affects how you socialize. It basically not controls our life, but it plays a major factor in every decision around food, basically. So I get it. I get the stress. I get that. It pulls us down. But when we don't talk about these things and we don't share about our journey, it can make it really difficult and it can make it hard on ourselves. If we don't talk to others and we don't ask questions and we don't learn, and we don't seek to find out the information that we need to know to be able to live the best life we possibly can as someone living with celiac disease. So I want you to reach out to someone this week and ask them if they are okay, and it could just start a roll on effect or a ripple effect and spread this mission further than just Australia. Because I think this is something that needs to be asked far and wide. You might be doing great. You might know someone else was celiac disease and then not doing great. You could be a support person for them, or perhaps you need someone to be your support person. So I urge you to find someone to be on your team. If you haven't got someone that's on your side, I urge you to find someone that can support you and help you find answers, lift you up, make you feel better. You know, even listening to this podcast, I'm hoping is inspiring you to live a better life, go back and listen to the previous episodes. Have you, haven't listened to them all, learn something more about yourself, learn how you can live a better life. If you haven't looked at ultimate celiac system, yet jump onto my website, Belinda whelan.com and learn if that's a course that could possibly help you do better in this lifetime, because it's basically a course that can completely transform your journey as someone with celiac disease. So there's options for you. There's ways to make this better. You know, there's, there's options for you out there that can help support you and help you move forward in a positive manner. Now, for me in the early days, I had support. I had support from my husband. I had support from my family and friends, and I truly believe that my journey would've been completely different if I hadn't have had that support. But for me last year, when things turned completely on its head, not only just for me personally, but throughout the whole world, I truly believe it was a major ripple effect for how I went from being this happy, positive girl, lucky person to someone that's lived with celiac disease for over 10 years and getting depression. So I am going to share my story with you guys next week, because I'm finally ready to do so, but I just wanted to preempt it. And I just wanted to ask you today, are you okay? And if you're not, I would love to support you. I would love to help you get through this and help you come out the other side, a better person, because you know, we have one very short life to live. And in this period of time on earth, we want to live it the best that we possibly can. And having come out the other side of having depression and knowing now what can cause depression has just blown my mind. And I'm going to share more about it next week, because to be quite honest with you, I am, I'm still shocked that I got diagnosed with depression and I still, I still can't believe it. I'm living and breathing. And I'm a true testimony to how to come out the other side. And I'm going to share that with you, but I still, I still don't understand how easy it is for someone to be so happy and positive, and then things change so quickly. So if you are not okay, and if you are struggling, you do need to talk to someone. You do need to get help. And here in Australia, we have lifeline. We have amazing doctors. We have amazing support people to talk to, but it doesn't need to get to that point. If you are struggling with celiac disease, and it's going to take you down that path of, I'm not going to say no return because there is return. But if it's taking you down that path of feeling depressed and feeling down and feeling low, please talk to someone, please reach out to someone and make sure that you don't go down that spiral because you can get it. You can get on top of these things early. And like I said, I want to share my story with you in, for next week. But I just wanted to ask the question today, are you okay? And if you're not plays plays, right, shout to someone, please talk to someone that can support you, whether it be a stranger on a lifeline, um, or equivalent to Laughlin, whichever country you're in most countries, I believe do have support online, um, that you can phone up and get that support. If it's not something like that, perhaps it's someone that you know, that you can reach out to and ask for help, or it's simply going to your doctor and talking things through. So I'm going to leave it at that very deep

Speaker 2:
